Jun,02,2008
Djibouti(Saylac.com)-the second round of the Somali
peace talks has just started in Djibouti under the
observations of UNO. President Abdillahi Yousuf
arrived yesterday in Djibouti and a delegation of
the safety advice of the UNO is awaited Djibouti.
Ahmedo Ould Abdallah, the UN representation to
somalia said this meeting is the fact that somalis
can talk and discuss about their country " it is
already an important step in the right direction ".
The president of the Somali Transitory Government,
Mr. Abdallahi Yusuf Ahmed arrived at Djibouti
yesterday Sunday.
His arrival in the Djibouti capital coincides with
the beginning of work of the second round of the
talks between the Somali Government of Transition
and the 'Somali relibation group based in Asmara.
This second phase of the talks which will complete
on June 15 begin with a series of workshops devoted
to various topics like Routing of the food aid and
its access to the Somali populations needy or the
Rebuilding and the Development.
Members of the delegation of the Alliance for
re-liberation of Somalia did not attend this
workshop. The Special correspondent of the UNO, Mr.
Ahmedou Ould Abdallah charged this absence to a lack
of communication and an incomprehension quickly
dissipated between the delegation of the UNO and
leaders of opposition.
In addition, a delegation of the Safety advice of
the United Nations is waited Monday in Djibouti.
This delegation will meet the two Somali parts
separately, today and to thus show its total support
with this peace initiative. After Djibouti stage,
the delegation will continue their African round in
several other countries, namely Sudan, Chad, the
Coast d' Ivory and the Democratic republic of Congo.
In the afternoon of last Saturday, it held a point of
press. With the eyes of the Special representative,
this essence is to give the Somali and to Somalia
their chance to proceed to go towards peace.
The Somali have been in war for ten eight years,
this first two days will not make the peace the
following day. But if the Somali meet and discuss
more this will lead them to solve their problem"
said Ahmedo Ould Abdallah the UN representative to
the Somalia. This meeting today is already a step
carried out in good the direction" Mr. Ould Abdallah
added. Delegations of the African union, the Arab
League and European Union, take part in work and
give their support for this gleam of hope.
