The Somali Transitional Government and opposition Party signed an agreements to end the conflicts. + Pictures

Dibouti(Saylac.com)-The Somali government and the principal coalition of the opposition of Alliance for re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) yesterday evening signed an agreement of suspension of the hostilities at the time of 2nd the phase closure of the peace negotiations started last on May 12 in Djibouti under the United Nations in Djibouti Kempenski de luxe hotel hotel.

The document of the agreement was signed by the Somali prime minister, Nour Hassan Houssein and the leader of the ARS Sheikh Sharif Ahmed. In addition to the suspensions of the hostilities this agreement envisages a durable political payment, peacefully of the environment and the protection of the civil population as well as the routing without obstacle of the humanitarian aid and the convocation of a conference of rebuilding and the development.

According to the door word of the special representative of the United Nations for Somalia, Mrs. Suzanne Price, the two parts also signed an agreement on the withdrawal of the Ethiopian troops in Somalia and the possible deployment of the blue helmets of UNO within 120 day.

The two parts also ask the international community required adequate resources for the implementation and the follow-up to the present agreement. The priority should be granted to the convocation of an International Conference aiming to the rebuilding and the development of Somalia. Within the framework of this agreement the two parts began to abstain from any declaration and the acts incompatible with the spirit of this agreement they also evoked the critical situation generated by 18 years of civil war which devastated the country and sacrificed a a whole private generation of education and development.


The signing ceremony of this agreement inter Somali proceeded in the presence of the special representative of the United Nations for Somalia, Ould Ahmed Abdallah, the groups of international observers of which African Union, the Arab League, the OCI and European Union. This agreement constitutes important advanced towards peace, but it remains to see how it will be respected by both sides.
