The second Medical Doctors Graduate from Amoud University of somaliland..Jan,23,2009

Seattle (Saylac.com)The people of Somaliland have reason to be very proud. The first of their home-trained medical doctors graduated on August 5, 2007. The second more recently was held on January 20, 2009.

On August 5, 2007 the usually quiet city of Borama was live with vehicles and well-dressed people walking on the streets. The typically sparse road from Borama to Amoud University, the site of the graduation, was full of vehicles, turning the normally short drive into a long trek.

University students were on hand to help with receiving the attendees and to help keep order, and in some cases to help the traffic policemen in maintaining order on the streets to avoid traffic accidents.

Of the attendees were the well-wishers of Amoud University from all over, along with dignitaries of the government, political party, the UN and International organizations. The pride and elation of the people in the crowd could be felt as the graduating student entered into the ceremony room.

On January 20, 2009, the second graduation ceremony was held at the Rays hotel in Borama. A report sent from Borama by "Jirde the saylac.com reporter" stated there was six newly graduated medical doctors from the Amoud University. Of the six newly graduated, two of them are female doctors.

Among the attendees at the graduation ceremony were the Dean of Amoud University Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Walhad, the Chairman
of Amoud University Professor Sulaiman Ahmed Gulaid, the Representative of King University of the United Kingdom, Dr. Peter,
The Mayor of Borama District, Abdirahman Shide Bille, the Somaliland ministry of Health, Abdi Haybe and other distinguished
guests.

Speaking at the ceremony was the Chairman of Amoud University, Professor Sulaiman Ahmed Gulaid who stated that these graduating doctors will fill the vacuum of the country in its need for doctors. Professor Sulaiman Ahmed Gulaid, at the end of the ceremony handed each of the six graduating doctors their graduation certificate and praised them all for their diligence and hard work in learning their medical studies for the past six years.

Dr. Peter, the Representative of the King University of the United Kingdom spoke at the graduation. In his speech he
mentioned that these new doctors had fulfilled all the requirements of their qualifications. He also stated that the new doctors had all passed the standard test of the King University Medical College in Britain with very high marks.

These six new doctors are:

Dr. Maxamed Xaamud Axmed
Dr. Fatxiya Maxamed Nuur
Dr. Khadra Cabdiraxmaan aw Cumar
Dr. Siciid Cismaan Daahir
Dr. Mustafe Maxamed Axmed
Dr. Abdi Qani Hasan Jama

After the ceremony, newly graduated Dr. Abdi Qani Hasan Jama said that he was very glad to receive his graduation certificate and included he could not wait to go to work to help the people of his country in need.

The Mayor of Borama declared that to date the UN World Health Organization had helped in providing some training and requested the agencies of Somaliland, Diaspora and all well-wishers to do anything they could to help the university. He added that with the right help the university could produce the next generation of medical staff for Somaliland regardless of
the difficulties.
